Nearly twenty-five thousand households in southeastern Queensland were left experiencing outages on Monday's dawn after severe thunderstorms swept through the region, bringing wind gusts topping 109km/h.

Massive Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Destruction

Residents observed large ice chunks as large as 7cm in certain regions. Weather authorities announced that multiple regions across the state had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were working to restore energy supply throughout the damaged zones, with nearly 70 crews working to address the numerous electricity disruptions.

Southern State's Climate Difficulties

Meanwhile, around 1,000 residents in the southern state also experienced energy failures after the capital city recorded its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.

Emergency response teams responded to over five hundred calls for help across the area, mostly for structural issues but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

At the height on yesterday, more than 28,000 power users in Victoria were without power.

Meteorological Predictions

Damp conditions were predicted to continue along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to draw in moisture against the coast.

The following day was expected to become the most rainy day, with continued storm activity expected across various areas of both states.

Safety Concern

Health officials alerted that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the current weather patterns.

This warning comes after historical occurrences where comparable situations led to substantial respiratory problems in the area.
